Notes

Schweppes turned up at the French Open in 2026 for the first time, and this Belgian 330ml Lemon can is part of how it announced itself. Suntory Beverage and Food Europe confirmed the deal on 28 January 2026, making Schweppes an official supplier of Roland-Garros for three years through to 2028, with co-branded cans produced across the European markets where Suntory holds the licence.

The colour choice is the interesting part. This can stays loyal to the drink rather than the tournament, running yellow and green for lemon and lime with a flat printed tennis ball and the official Roland-Garros logo sitting alongside. Italy took the opposite approach, putting the campaign on Schweppes Tonic and blending the brand's yellow into the terracotta red of the clay courts. Same partnership, same year, two different design solutions, which tells you the artwork was handed to each market rather than mandated from the centre.

Roland-Garros is the only Grand Slam played on clay and among the oldest tournaments in the sport, dating back to 1891 and staged at the Paris stadium since 1928. It drew a record 687,249 spectators in 2025 and was broadcast to 220 countries. Schweppes sits in the official supplier tier alongside Lavazza, Orange, Stella Artois, Moët Hennessy, Magnum and JCDecaux, which is a fair indication of the company the brand is keeping.

For Suntory this is familiar territory. The group has paired Orangina with the Tour de France and Lucozade with Liverpool Football Club and the England national team, and Schweppes brings an older, more adult positioning to the mix. The brand claims the longest history in the category: Johann Jacob Schweppe developed a practical method of carbonating water in Geneva in 1783 and moved the business to London in 1792, making this arguably the oldest soft drink brand still in production.

Inside is a sparkling soft drink flavoured with lemon and lime. In Belgium it was released as a matched pair with a citrus version carrying the same Roland-Garros livery, made with orange, grapefruit, lime and mandarin, which is also in the archive.
