GIMBER spent years as a bottle of syrup before it became a 250ml can. The Belgian brand launched in 2017 selling an organic ginger concentrate in 700ml bottles, meant to be diluted a shot at a time, and this sparkling ginger, lemon and herbs can is the ready-made version of that idea.
The can is almost entirely white with gold detailing, restrained to the point of looking closer to a spirits label than a soft drink, and part of the text has been printed upside down on purpose. It reads "Flip to get your natural kick", repeated in French as "Retournez-moi et libérez votre boost naturel". Turn the can over and a second message appears the right way up: "Congrats. You flipped it right. All the good stuff is now back." It is a small piece of interactive packaging, using the physical act of tilting the can as the mechanism, and it gives a plain white can a reason to be picked up and turned over on shelf. It also doubles as a serving instruction, since the ginger settles.
The four language back label is the giveaway that this is a European product rather than a purely Belgian one. Ingredients are listed in English, French, Dutch and German, covering the brand's core markets in a single print run, which is standard practice for a smaller producer selling across borders without the volume to justify separate runs per country.
The commercial logic sits in the alcohol-free category, which has grown sharply as drinkers look for something with genuine flavour rather than a soft drink or sparkling water. GIMBER positions itself against spirits rather than against soda, and the wider range makes that clear: N°1 Original at 33% ginger, N°2 Brut at 41% with yuzu and lemon thyme, and N°3 Lilly with passion fruit, pineapple and turmeric. Those are concentrates. This can is a far gentler thing, and the two should not be confused.
Inside is sparkling water with 6% ginger juice, 4% lemon juice, cane sugar, yuzu juice and a 0.4% herbs infusion, every ingredient organic and certified under Biogarantie in Belgium. It carries 19 calories and 4.7 grams of sugar per 100ml, contains no alcohol, and is suitable for vegans.
