Notes

This Fanta Lemon 330ml soda can, UK 2026, was pulled from an 8-can multipack, and comes from a brand that only exists because Coca-Cola ran out of ingredients.

In 1940, wartime trade restrictions cut Coca-Cola's German operation off from the syrup it needed, so the team there built a new drink from whatever local ingredients they could get. That improvisation became Fanta. The modern brand dates from 1955, when Fanta Orange launched in Naples, and Coca-Cola formally acquired it in 1960, making Fanta the second oldest brand in the entire portfolio after Coca-Cola itself.

The can does its work through colour alone. A bright, saturated yellow covers the full body with the Fanta wordmark and lemon imagery sitting on top, and in a multipack that yellow is the entire navigation system: orange for Orange, yellow for Lemon, purple for Grape, with the wordmark identical across all of them. It is one of the few soft drink ranges where you can identify the flavour across a room without reading a single word, and the design has been engineered that way deliberately.

Fanta is the number one flavoured carbonate brand in British retail according to Nielsen, and its United Kingdom range is built to comply with rules restricting the advertising of products high in fat, salt or sugar (HFSS), which is why this can uses sugar and sweeteners together rather than sugar alone. The brand leans hard on seasonal and cultural campaigns rather than on-pack promotions: the annual Halloween pack transformations are its most recognisable British activity, and it has partnered with Xbox on flavour tie-ins. Fanta Orange and Fanta Fruit Twist spearhead the compliant range, with Fanta Grape added to the core lineup in February 2026.

Inside is a caffeine free sparkling lemon drink made with 5% lemon juice from concentrate, sweetened with sugar alongside acesulfame K and aspartame, with no artificial colours. It contains a source of phenylalanine and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It is bottled and distributed in the United Kingdom by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP).

More than 90 Fanta flavours exist worldwide, over 30 across CCEP markets alone, and lemon is one of the few that has held a permanent place in the British lineup rather than rotating through as a limited edition.
