An American market product sold in the UK only through American candy and import shops, combining Dr Pepper's 23 signature flavours with vanilla cream soda.
The can leans on the pairing in its design, with the words 'Cream Soda' joined to the Dr Pepper logo by a large ampersand symbol, set against the brand's classic deep burgundy with soft cream accents that signal the vanilla twist inside. The 12 fl oz format and US labelling mark it out clearly as an import on British shelves.
The flavour was first revealed at the National Association of Convenience Stores trade show in Atlanta in October 2019, where images leaked online through food Instagrammer candyhunting before Dr Pepper officially confirmed it, telling USA Today that news this sweet was too good to keep to themselves. It launched across the US in March 2020 in both regular and diet varieties, and proved popular enough that by August 2020, in the middle of the pandemic aluminium can shortage, Keurig Dr Pepper confirmed it had earned a permanent place in the lineup.
The added vanilla softens Dr Pepper's famously polarising taste, making this one of the brand's most approachable variants and a common gateway for people who never got on with the original. Dr Pepper itself dates back to 1885 in Waco, Texas, predating Coca-Cola by a year, and is officially classified as neither a cola nor a root beer but its own pepper soda category.
An American import in the PullTab archive, from the brand that became the second best selling soda in the United States.
